6 MUST KNOW RENOVATION TIPS

We all have aspirations to remodel and upgrade our homes but with all the information, we exposed to it can sometimes be overwhelming.

For those of you who don’t know where to start here are 6 must-know renovation tips you should follow and apply to your next house renovation.

HAVE SOME PATIENCE

You’ve come to the point where you’ve decided you wanted to make some home upgrades. Whether this is your first investment property or your life long dream home, you’ve decided to take the jump. Although this sounds good in theory, you are kind of lost and don’t know exactly where to start.

First, we would suggest taking a BIG DEEP BREATH.

Anything to do with a home tends to bring a lot of stress and anxiety to homeowners. Whether moving to a new house or having to fix a problem in your home, it takes up a lot of energy and brain space.

We are warning you now, things aren’t going to go fully according to plan!

There will be times where you wish you didn’t start. But it will all be worth it, we promise!

Anticipating the ups and downs of your renovation project will help you deal with them better once they arise.

STAY A FEW STEPS AHEAD

Just like any house project, we don’t suggest you do them on your own if you don’t want to risk the chance of having the project being done twice.

When planning for your renovation, we suggest that you reach out to multiple contractors and designers for quotes.  This will not only give you a sense of who you’re working with but also how your project varies amongst different contracting companies. With that being said, siding with the cheapest contractor isn’t always the smartest idea.

For one, a low price point can mean a lack of experience and quality of craftsmanship. Secondly, if you do happen to side with the cheapest contractor, it can actually cost you more money as the project goes on, as they may try to add unexpected fees.

In order to avoid stress and anxiety, we also suggest not waiting until the last minute to get fixtures and appliances, as you will be at the mercy of those prices due to your lack of organization

Although we suggest you not wait for the last minute to shop, we also don’t want you to shop prematurely. Doing your shopping too early can also cause you problems if the blueprint of the project isn’t solidified. This can cause you to buy products that you think will fit in a certain space, only to find out that its a few inches off. Creating more time and money wasted in some cases.

With all of this being said, it’s important that you be extremely organized and use your time wisely throughout this project.

We hope these 6 tips come in handy when you take on your next home renovation project.
